Heart Beet Organics was honoured with the Gilbert R. Clements award for Excellence in Environmental Farm Planning at the PEIFA 77th AGM.

Dairy farmers Allan & Coleen MacQuarrie, of MacTalla Farms, Bonshaw, PEI, were awarded the prestigious Master Breeder award by Holstein Canada. The only Maritimers to receive the award this year, they competed against 750 other Holstein breeders across Canada.

PEI filmmaker John Hopkins’ documentary, “Bluefin”, which was filmed in North Lake, PEI, won 2017 Best Documentary Feature at the California Film Awards.

The PEI government launched a pollination expansion program to increase Island honey bee colonies available for fruit crop pollination. Eligible applicants can receive funding for new hives, hive equipment and other costs.
