Burger Love @ Island-wide at participating restaurants

Get ready for a month of beefy goodness as Burger Love returns for its 7th year! This month-long culinary campaign challenges chefs from participating restaurants across the Island to create jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring burgers made from 100% Island beef and invites burger lovers to vote on those they try throughout the month. At the end of the month, one restaurant/chef will win the coveted ‘Most Loved Burger’ title.

Transforming Great Ideas into Great Opportunities Workshop @ PEI Farm Centre

This FREE one-day workshop will be hosted by the Bioenterprise Corporation in collaboration with PEI ADAPT Council. The workshop is meant to inspire Island business leaders to seize new market opportunities, maximize employee performance, and offer tools to assist with go-to-market strategies.

The workshop will be led by Phil Ferraro, Bioenterprise Maritimes, Joe Sherren, Gateway Leadership Inc. and John Sewuster, Waypoint Business Solutions. Joe Sherren, is an internationally acclaimed speaker, trainer, author and executive coach. His engaging presentations are designed to energize employee performance while also increasing morale and improving bottom line results. John Sewuster, is an expert in marketing, sales, and business development strategies. He will offer a strategic business development session that focuses on creating superior customer value and profitably. Phil Ferraro, a Certified Sustainability & Responsibility Practitioner, will inspire business leaders to respond to emerging issues, and seize new market opportunities while assessing their commitment to social, economic and environmental sustainability.
The workshop is open to anyone engaged in agriculture, agrifood, and bio-based materials who are looking to improve their business skills.

Join Tracey Allen to have some fun and learn how to easily make plant-based whole foods that are gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan and tasty. Whether it is for health reasons you are looking to change your meals, you are interested in learning new recipes, or you have an allergy to gluten/wheat and dairy and need to revise your cooking, this class can help you. The class will cover the following items: a fermented item, a dip for entertaining, a soup, a burger, a salad dressing, plus a salt-free alternative. Take away items and samples to try.

Culinary Demo With Chef Kyle Panton @ Montague Regional High School
May 13 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

As part of Montague’s 100 Days of Celebration, Island chef Kyle Panton will be demonstrating a “new style” chicken dinner, featuring potato pancake, local vegetable medley, roasted chicken breast with maple mustard glaze. Panton will be giving chef’s insights into how to make this dish a hit. Free admission.

Dandelion Festival 2017 @ Stratford Town Hall

The PEI Environmental Health Co-op is hosting its 11th Dandelion Festival at Stratford Town Hall on Victoria Day, Monday May 22nd from 10am – 3pm. The Festival is a celebration of the majestic dandelion and of living in an ecologically friendly manner. Admission is FREE.

This family event has activities for children that include art & craft tables, making newspaper hats, and outdoor games/activities.  Samples of dandelion pancakes and syrup will be on offer, as well as snacks by the Kitchen Witch ($). Harpist Jill Harris, and the Singing Strings will provide musical entertainment.

Display booths will provide information on many topics dealing with healthier living, care of the environment, renewable energy and sustainability. Be sure to visit Salty’s booth and say hello!

4th Annual Herb Day @ Farm Centre

Spring is here and it’s time to get gardening! Celebrate and stock up at the 4th Annual Herb organized by the PEI Food Exchange in partnership with the Farm Centre.
The event will feature a plant/herb sale, seed sale/swap, hourly workshops, a marketplace, garden tool repair, yoga in the garden, garden tour, kids’ activities and more. There is no admission fee to this family-friendly event, though goodwill donations are gratefully accepted.

Veg PEI Vegan Potluck @ Haviland Club
May 29 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

If you are a vegan or vegan-curious, join fellow Islanders at Veg PEI’s monthly community potluck at 7 pm at the Haviland Club, 2 Haviland St., Charlottetown. If you’d like to share a dish, remember that all dishes must be vegan—so absolutely no meat, fish, seafood, dairy, eggs, or honey. Please bring your own plate/bowl, utensils, napkins, drinks, etc. This cuts down on waste and clean-up. Bring a serving utensil for your dish and a list of ingredients that you used to make it.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. Meal begins at 7 pm. Admission is by $2 minimum donation if you are bringing a dish, minimum $7 if not.

Talented local chefs and cooks have developed 52 unique seafood dishes featuring lobster, mussels, oysters, etc. Chefs are competing for $4,000 in prize money and the title of 2017 Chic Chef of the Year. Charlottetown Farmers Market @ Charlottetown Farmers Market

Charlottetown’s original and biggest farmers’ market is open from 9am-2pm year round on Saturdays and Wednesdays 9am to 2pm June 14 to October 4.  It’s a Saturday morning tradition for many Islanders and a destination for locals and visitors in search of fresh farm produce, artisanal products, delicious hot food and friendly conversation. Indoor and outdoor eating spaces, a wide range of farm vendor,s and plenty of options for breakfast, snacks, and lunch await!
