National Cupcake Day
When: Feb 27
Here’s your chance to get up and moving for loveable animals in need while having fun with your friends, family and colleagues. Monday, February 27th, is National Cupcake Day in support of SPCAs and Humane Societies across Canada including your local shelter, the PEI Humane Society. You can show your support by baking up yummy cupcakes and hosting a Cupcake Party or by enjoying a cupcake (or a dozen!) from one of the many local cupcake events that will be taking place and making a donation.
For pre-register your cupcake party visit www.nationalcupcakeday.ca or visit www.peihumanesociety.com for a list of local cupcake events and other ways to donate.
Seedy Saturdays
Seedy Saturdays are part of a world-wide movement for community-ownership of seed, based on the idea that access to seed is a human right. Everyone is welcome to come and bring saved or leftover seed to share and swap. Seed leftover at the end of the event goes to the PEI Seed Library Network and is distributed free across the island in the spring.
There are currently 2 events scheduled:
Charlottetown Seedy Saturday: February 25th: 2:00-3:30pm
Montague Seedy Saturday: March 4th
The Montague Seedy Saturday will begin at 2pm with a screening of award winning documentary, Seed: the Untold Story. The film will end at 3:30, and the Seed Swap will begin!
Stay tuned, as more Seedy Saturdays (and Sundays!) will be announced soon! For more information contact josie@cooperinstitute.ca.
Support Salty
Like many small businesses, we had to adapt to 2020’s challenges, one of which was a loss of ad revenue. We ceased printing our monthly digest, but there are many more stories to tell. With the digital version of Salty, we continue to share Island food stories, and you can be a part of it. No amount is too small (or large!), and we thank you for being a part of our Salty family. Our readers’ support will allow us to bring new original Prince Edward Island food stories in the future.
