The second day of Forage began with a continuation of Jordan Bower’s storytelling workshop at the Fortune Bay Community Centre. Attendees were paired with each other, and delved into storytelling, and offered feedback on how to create a better story. After the workshop, the symposium moved to the Inn at Bay Fortune for a roving feast prepared over open fires. Guests learned about cooking methods, and enjoyed a variety of freshly prepared dishes, ranging from charcuterie, pork, ferments, beef, cheese, seafood like salmon, bluefin tuna, oysters, whelks, and lobster and, of course, potatoes. Techniques like how to have a lobster beach bake, and make your own charcoal were also covered, along with the ‘meet your fisherman’ portion of the day.

Support Salty
Like many small businesses, we had to adapt to 2020’s challenges, one of which was a loss of ad revenue. We ceased printing our monthly digest, but there are many more stories to tell. With the digital version of Salty, we continue to share Island food stories, and you can be a part of it. No amount is too small (or large!), and we thank you for being a part of our Salty family. Our readers’ support will allow us to bring new original Prince Edward Island food stories in the future.
